Marvel's Aaron Taylor-Johnson and ex-Superman Henry Cavill lead the speculation as the next James Bond, a buzz reflected in both media reports and betting markets. Cavill's exit from Superman has intensified talks about him possibly taking on the 007 role.

Other actors in the mix include Rege Jean-Page of 'Bridgerton', BAFTA nominee James Norton, Chiwetel Ejiofor from the London Academy, 'Downton Abbey's' Dan Stevens, Tom Hardy, Luke Evans, and Idris Elba.

Since 1962, six actors have portrayed James Bond across 25 films. Sean Connery, the first and iconic Bond, starred in six films. George Lazenby briefly took over before Roger Moore became the longest-serving Bond, featuring in seven films from 1973 to 1985. Timothy Dalton's two-film stint preceded Pierce Brosnan's four-movie run, after which Daniel Craig debuted in 2006's 'Casino Royale'.

The youngest Bond was Lazenby at 29, while Moore played the role until he was 57. As casting evolves, there's a growing call for a more diverse Bond, potentially even a female 007.
